GSTIN validator
Paste a GSTIN to check its format and check digit and see which state it belongs to. Most GSTIN typos change the last character, so the check digit catches them. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
How a GSTIN is built
| Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 1–2 | State code (for example 27 Maharashtra, 29 Karnataka, 07 Delhi) |
| 3–12 | PAN of the business |
| 13 | Registration number for that PAN in the state (1–9, then A–Z) |
| 14 | Z by default |
| 15 | Check character calculated from the first 14 |
A valid format does not prove the registration is active. Search the GSTIN on the official GST portal to see its status and legal name.
